Elder arrested for beating daughter
by ezekiel3 inelder david nesler was arrested in jackson california for striking his teen-age daughter (also a jw) in front of a high school.
he is currently released and an active jw member who is allowed to participate in meetings, although his status as an elder is unknown.. this was not alleged to be sexual abuse, but it does certainly call into question the discretion of this elder.
if this is what he does in public...?.

If he was hitting his daughter in front of her High School.. can you imagine how much he might be physically hitting her at home, behind closed doors.
Glad he has been exposed and I hope the family gets some help.. Especially the daughter.

Deja Vu...almost all over again

well, last night thunder let moxie our cairn terrier out and she was gone she has never run off.
i looked all over for her called and called drove around (midnight mind you....driving around screaming for a dog sigh

Glad your dog came home.
Our little Westhighland Terrier freaks out whenever it Thunders and Lightening. She runs around the house crying and just shaking for all she is worth. She just hyperventilates.
sometimes we have turned the radio up real loud so she can't hear it. Works.. if she can't hear it she is just fine.
We have to tie her in the kitchen.
......
p.s: When you first started the thread.. I thought maybe something (like a pillow) exploded in your washing machine..Nasty mess.

Weird Meeting
by iiz2cool inon the way home from work today i stopped at a local grocery store to pick up a few things.
when i got into the store i saw an elder?
from my first hall in there talking to a couple of women i assumed were sisters?.

Being disfellowshipped this has happened to me a few times. (Deer in the headlights.. freeze)
Some I ignore..
But there was this one lady I met at the grocery store.. and we were shopping in the same aisle after aisle..
I knew it was making her very fidgety by about the third aisle.
(Luckily I had read in the paper that her mother recently died)...
So I leaned over my cart and said.. Her first name.. and then said "All I'm going to say is this..I'm truly sorry your mother died. I read it and the paper and thought of you. I know you were close and it has probably been very difficult for you..and I just want you to know I'm sorry for your loss. .. And again that is all I am going to say okay."
The lady almost expressed tears.. and was really quite moved.. she said my name,, and thanked me very, very much. I appreciate you saying that and that it meant a lot to her " and then we went about our shopping in silence.
Thanks for posting about your experience Walter.. It made me think back to this J.W. .. I do believe I touched her by what I said on a level that was just behind the J.W. fascade.

But I really like Thanksgiving.
I really put alot of mental thought into what I have to be thankful for that either happened or didn't happen during that year.
We all take our turn around the table saying what we are each thankful for. I find it quite interesting what the kids have to say..
I just enjoy it. and find it has a lot less stress than some other holiday., at least for me.
